Do cookies reveal IP if everything else is turned off?

Hello,

I understand using Java, Javascript, plugins, referrers, etc, may reveal someone's IP independently of if the user is using the Tor network, but can cookies do that?

My intent is to be able to sign in and participate in an online forum that requires cookies to remember username and password, otherwise it will not let a user to sign in. No javascript required to sign in (although javascript is required for other forum functions).

So, the question is, if I enable cookies to be able to sign in, could that site indentify my IP only from the cookies?

Thanks for the help.

Still blocked by China

I know Tor is more for anonymity than getting around blocking like the golden shield. But for a while Operator was great for getting around it. But lately I've been unable to watch many youtube videos with it. With a regular browser youtube pages won't load at all, either the operation times out or the document contains no data. But with operator it's a little different.

OperaTor TROJAN? or what? it's downloading something in the background

when I open Operator, my idle internet connection starts recieveing data in what appears to be a download in the background. The data keeps downloading until I shut Operator down or disconnect. I have the home page set to a html on my hard drive. and I dont attempt to open any web pages/downloads or ‘surf’ data just automatically without me asking for it starts downloading to my machine whenever operator starts up. I have been using Operator for quite a while and Im 99.9% certian this is a new behavior and no hidden data was being recieved in the background when operator was open.

Stale pages from cache are displayed

When using websites that generate dynamic content for a given url, it seems that OperaTor fetches content from the local cache instead of using the newest content. Is this because of the use of Polipo? An example of an affected site is ifile.it when used with an account, with JavaScript on. I know that JavaScript on can compromise anonymity, but some sites such as ifile.it require JavaScript for needed functionality. Other sites are also affected by this issue. Is this expected behavior? I am using OperaTor 3.3.

By the way, thank you for OperaTor!

Help, how to use OperaTor with a proxy?

In past when I use Tor + Firefox, I can setup a internet proxy in Tor.

But in OperaTor I don't find a place to setup proxy. It seems Tor doesn't work if I changed the Opera's proxy setting.
